I have plan for this feature, but we don't know exactly when it will be added.

Boki

I really, really need this feature. I am recreating my core application using your Next Collection, because I love the look and feel of your controls. biggrin.gif However, I cannot remove the Devex Quantum Grid until your grid has grouping. Please, please help. sad.gif

If you had to say this feature would be delivered closer to 3 weeks or 3 months, which would it be? unsure.gif

Thanks,
HL

Hello HL,

I am sorry, I will need to do this slowly. If I made it quickly, it will be full of bugs and this is a really big feature.

Right. Btw i'm still not 100% convinced it needs to be part of the grid as not many users will use it.

I think you can do it already in code yourself by adding a treecolumn in front of the grid that you hide/show. With such code I would first see some proof the grid can do it without many extensions that only a few users use.

Perhaps it can be done solely by modifying the tree column and hiding/showing others.

Keeps me thinking...

I am surprised that you think few would use it. I know that the folks at TMS have be trying to accomplish it, but have failed. Many of their users are looking for other solutions because of this. I know, because I am one of them. I bought from BergSoft for two reasons: (1) Boki told me in an e-mail that this feature was high on the to-do list, and (2) because I prefer the way BergSoft handles Windows themes over TMS.

Searching these forums, I found column grouping to be one of the most requested features. In that same search, I found where DeonVN tried using the treecolumn as you described and found that it was not currently possible.

In that same thread, you suggested that multilevel columns were the solution.

I agree with HL.

I think there are many people out there who would find this feature extremely useful.

Must have missed some postings (I seldomly use a dbgrid so am a little biased).

But it's a big feature that needs to be implemented the right way in all parts of the grid (not only the db grid then).

Perhaps I shuld look into it myself for fun.

Hi Wim

I personally would like to see this feature in NextGrid (I also don't use the DBGrid). I only posted in this topic because the whole grouping discussion seemed to have moved to here.

It would be great if you could look into it in the meantime (the more, the merrier). Keep us posted. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Is it too late to get my money back? I really hate being lied to. If you had not told me that you were going to implement this feature, I would not have wasted money on your product.
