I noticed that the design-time editor for columns can cause 'List index out of bounds'-errors.

This only happens if the grid is placed in a frame and the form containing the grid is opened as well.

If I close the form which has the frame in the Delphi IDE the problem is gone and I can edit the grid-columns as normal.

Could it be related to the way you save/load the columns for your grids ?
Maybe all you need to do is prevent the components from saving/loading some of your published properties.
I can't help but think that this problem might be related to the access violation I had until I defined the order in which I destroyed the grids I was using myself.

Hello Rond,

Unfortunately, this is a very hard problem - small science in it.

I am trying to fix it from time to time, but I don't know what to do.

Best regards
