I am running Windows XP /SP3 and Delphi 2007 Professional. I have previously installed NextGrid and all went well. Yesterday circumstances required me to remove and reinstall Delphi 2007. I then attempted to reinstall NextGrid according to the Help.chm. I selected NxCommonRun, Compile and Install. The dialog box pops up telling me the operation was a success. Next I select NxCommonDsgn, Compile and I get the error: [DCC Error] NxCommonDsgn.dpk(35): F2039 Could not create output file 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\RAD Studio\5.0\Bpl\NxCommonRun.bpl'. I have checked the environment and lib paths, all appear correct. Any ideas?

Mel

I have tried following the instructions in the link you provided without success. I have printed and followed the Help.chm without success. There is something about the clean install of Delphi 2007 but I have wasted enough time on this. NextGrid works great on Delphi 7 but for Delphi 2007 I will look for another direction.

Thanks.
Mel

Hello Mel,

Does allways same error happen?

Maybe you can try to set different path for package in Directories/Conditionals?

I count 13 .bpl in the package I installed. The first module (NxCommonRun.bpl) compiles and installs without error.

The next 12 abort the compile giving the same exact message:

[DCC Error] NxGridRun.dpk(33): F2039 Could not create output file 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\RAD Studio\5.0\Bpl\NxCommonRun.bpl'

Strange since it refers to the only module that compiles and installs without an error message.

Still can't install it. I tried installing it on another computer (XP w/SP3) and had the same problem. It did install on a computer running Windows Vista. For now I will make do with the standard Delphi grid. When I get some free time, I might try again... Thanks for the help.

I have always liked NextGrid so I thought I would give it one more try.

I uninstalled NextGrid
I uninstalled the TMS Software Component Library
I uninstalled Absolute Database
I uninstalled Delphi 2007 for Win32 Professional version
I searched and removed all references to the above software from the registry (Windows XP w/SP3)
I shutdown the system.
I restarted the system.
I installed Delphi 2007 for Win32 Professional version
I attempted to installed NextGrid...
NxCommonRun appears to compile & install correctly.
NxCommonDsgn aborts the compile with the same error as before.
I installed the TMS Software Component Library (no problems)
I installed Absolute Database (no problems)

I have decided this software installation is beyond my capabilities.
I have moved on...

Next Grid works on your system but not mine. It is obviously my problem and I spent 6 houurs yesterday trying to track it down. Today, I am going to spend my time converting my application from Next Grid back to the CodeGear grid. When Windows 7 releases I will do a complete format and fresh install of all software. I may try Next Grid again at that time but for now it seems to be a dead issue.

Thanks for the help.

Mel

Thanks for the help.

Hello Mel,

I understand you, may be I have some solution more:

- Try to create NxCommonDsgn package and delete old one.
- Try to install from Delphi 2010 packages.

Hello Ziki,

Maybe is something wrong with BPL folder. Maybe is read-only (?)

NxCommonRun is most common package and it should install easy. Maybe you can try to change output directory for package.
